Giving Back

At the heart of this journey is community-led, responsible tourism. You are not simply visiting communities—you are working alongside them, listening, learning, and contributing to projects designed and led by local people.

Environmental efforts focus on long-term ecosystem restoration through indigenous tree nurseries and reforestation at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro. Community development is addressed through practical, sustainable initiatives such as the chicken-coop project, which directly supports families caring for vulnerable children by improving income stability and food security.

Cultural exchange is genuine and reciprocal—sharing meals, stories, music, and daily life fosters meaningful connections that go far beyond surface-level tourism. This trip uses travel as a tool for positive impact, ensuring that the benefits of tourism stay within the community and leave a lasting legacy for both travellers and hosts.

The experience offers a unique chance to engage with the villagers on a personal level, deepening your understanding of Tanzanian customs and daily life. The conversations can be deep and meaningful, so feel free to explore the subjects that interest you.

Day 3 - Give-Back Day – Materuni Coffee Experience & Conservation Work

Today is a meaningful give-back day, combining cultural immersion with hands-on environmental conservation.

Morning: Materuni Village Coffee Experience
We begin the day in Materuni Village with an authentic and interactive coffee tour led by the local Chaga community. During this rich cultural experience, you will learn the full traditional process of coffee production from picking to roasting. You will join the locals in dancing and singing as you grind and prepare coffee the traditional way.
You will try your hand at being a “local barista” by brewing your own fresh cup of organic Materuni coffee and enjoy a delicious local lunch prepared in the village.
We will explore handmade crafts, artwork, and jewellery created by community artisans. Remember to carry some cash with you.

Afternoon: Volunteering in a Conservation Area
After lunch, we head back to Moshi for a hands-on volunteer experience in a local environmental conservation area at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro.
Here, you’ll support ongoing conservation efforts through: Working in the tree nursery production section, planting seeds and preparing soil beds, arranging and caring for young indigenous tree seedlings and planting trees to contribute directly to local environmental restoration efforts.

Meals Included: Breakfast & Lunch
Accommodations: Panama Garden Resort (Twin share)

Day 4 -  Environmental Conservation Volunteering

On Day 4, you’ll spend a full day volunteering in a beautiful conservation area at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro with a beautiful water source and birds like hornbills. This peaceful, cool forest environment is home to an indigenous tree nursery that plays a vital role in restoring the local ecosystem.

Throughout the day, you’ll take part in hands-on activities such as preparing soil beds, organising seeds, planting and watering seedlings, and caring for young indigenous trees. You may also assist with general nursery production tasks and help plant trees in the field, directly contributing to long-term reforestation efforts.
This immersive experience allows us to support meaningful environmental conservation while learning from local experts and engaging with the community.

Meals Included: Breakfast & Lunch
Accommodations: Panama Garden Resort (Twin share)

Days 5 & 6 -  Give back days - Chicken Coop Project

Over these two days, you’ll take part in a hands-on community development project in partnership with Bright Future Foundation, an organisation dedicated to supporting children from disadvantaged backgrounds. Many of these children are raised through kinship care, where relatives or close community members open their homes and hearts to provide a stable and loving environment.

Our focus during this project is to support the families who care for these children.
Your main activity for these two days will be building a sustainable chicken coop for one of the kinship families supported by the foundation. Working side by side with local builders, community members, and our guides, you’ll help with tasks such as: Preparing the foundation, constructing the wooden frame, securing wire mesh and roofing and strengthening the structure.
Once the coop is complete, we will provide a set of healthy starter chickens, which will be donated to the host family. This small but meaningful contribution helps strengthen their household income and long-term food security.
During breaks from construction, you’ll also have lunch and the opportunity to learn more about kinship care in Tanzania, and hear firsthand how Bright Future Foundation is transforming lives within the community.

Meals Included: Breakfast & Lunch
Accommodation: Panama Garden Resort (Twin share)

Day 7 - Walking Safari in Arusha National Park

The Arusha National Park is the only park in Northern Tanzania where you may experience a walking safari. Safari in the Arusha National Park means a light trekking with a ranger.
You will walk in the tropical forest and watch animals outside the car. The most amazing thing is that you will be able to walk up to the crater of Meru (the second highest peak of Tanzania and the fifth highest peak of Africa) which is located right in the park. This is a fantastic experience, worth adding to your Tanzanian adventures!
After the walking safari, a car will drive you to the furthest part of the park the Momela lakes where you can see pink flamingos as well as many other animals on your way.

Meals Included: Breakfast & Lunch
Accommodation: Hotel in Arusha (Twin share)

Day 8 - Start of Safari - Tarangire National Park

You will visit all of the parks mentioned in this itinerary but the order of visits may differ depending on information the guides receive on wildlife location.
The accommodation at all sites will be in Lodges all of which are equipped with en-suite bathrooms, electricity, bar and Wi-Fi. You'll most likely get the name of the Lodge the evening before, but given the popularity of Tanzania we look for the most suitable option for the tour.
Your safari adventure begins as you drive to Tarangire National Park, home to one of Tanzania's largest populations of elephants and the striking baobab trees.
You'll embark on your first game drive, spotting elephants, lions, and other wildlife.

You will be accompanied on your safari by experienced guides who will adjust your schedule depending on where the best sightings are to be found.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
Accommodation: Lodge accommodation (Twin share)

Day 9 - Safari to Lake Manyara National Park

Today, you’ll visit Lake Manyara National Park, the only fully forested national park in Tanzania. This lush environment is home to a high concentration of primates, including baboons, black-faced (velvet) monkeys, and blue monkeys, making it one of the best places to observe them in their natural habitat.
Right in the middle of the park lies the peaceful Lake Manyara, a perfect place for bird lovers. The area attracts many different bird species, from small colourful birds to large groups of flamingos when they are around. It’s one of the best places to enjoy quiet and relaxed birdwatching.
Beyond the forest and the lake, the park also shelters iconic wildlife such as elephants, giraffes, antelopes etc. and if you’re lucky, the famous tree-climbing lions.
In recent years, the lake’s water level has been steadily rising, creating new habitats and changing the landscape in fascinating ways.
After a full day of exploring this rich ecosystem, you’ll return to your lodge for a relaxing evening and a delicious dinner.

Day 10 - Safari in Ngorongoro Crater

A true highlight of your safari experience, today takes you into the Ngorongoro Crater, one of the world's largest volcanic calderas. It was thought that this was the original Garden of Eden and you'll understand why when you visit.
The crater's unique ecosystem supports an incredible concentration of wildlife, making it one of the best places in Tanzania to spot animals like black rhinos and hippos.
After a day of exploring this natural wonder, you'll drive to Serengeti where you can relax and enjoy the nature for overnight.

From prides of lions to herds of wildebeest, zebras, and giraffes, the Serengeti offers unmatched wildlife encounters.

It is the experience of a lifetime and the images will remain with you forever. Watch the great migration with zebras and wildebeest as far as the eye can see, prowling lions, giraffes, hyenas, hippos, mongoose, cheetahs, warthogs- just think of the Lion King and you'll get the idea.
You'll dine under the stars, immersed in the beauty of this UNESCO World Heritage site.
